Every Visitor Counts

If you own a blog or a site that runs Adsense ads, you probably know how difficult it is to get traffic to your site, leave alone making money through Adsense. Unlike hubpages where you are sure that at least 1 person will come to your hub, it is all about sweat, blood and tears to get that single targeted visitor to your blog content. It is for this reason that you must turn every single visitor to a money making machine. So, if you feel that you are not making as much money as you should with the little traffic you are getting, what should you do?

1. Do some Keyword Research

The first thing that you need to do is tune up your site's contents. You simply can’t be a master of everything unless you are ezine.com. See what you need and go for it. However for some people, this isn't an option (if you're running a forum for example it's a lot harder.) To begin, you should find out what your site's keywords are. This is a basic technique in SEO (search engine optimization) known as keyword density verification. Despite the fact that keyword density is not the gold it used to be, – thanks to unscrupulous site owners who wanted to exploit the system – you will do yourself a lot of good if you take it seriously.
.
You should then take this list of words and search them with the Google keywords tool to find out what other words could be doing better than what you currently have. This is an important part of keyword research as there is little need to be ranked for a keyword that will not bring you a dollar within the next ten years.

Once you are through with this, try to keep your site focused on the things that appear mostly in the keyword suggestions you receive. Use the keywords that you have and use them as often as you in the links on your site. The same keywords should be used in your tags. Many people find it difficult to get the tags for their articles (even in hubpages,) you can be sure that you will receive extremely good ratings.

Thanks to the way Google Adsense works, this is a sure way to increase your earnings because you'll get better ads in your AdSense banners that are relevant to the content you have – just as it works with Google PageRanking.

2. Get new Content

“Google loves new content” is perhaps one of the most common phrases that you will hear once you take up SEO in earnest. Apart from making your pages search engine friendly, new content will help you have more pages where ads will be placed. As you may know, a visitor to your site may not find any relevant advertisement on the page that brought him to your site, but once he starts going through your other pages, he is likely to find an advertisement that will be of relevance to him. This means that there will be a higher chance of getting hits on your ads.

3. Get Proper Ad Formats

It's also very important that you choose the appropriate formats for your AdSense banners and the best locations for them. While this is a much wider subject you should generally know that the top three Google AdSense formats are: 336x280 large rectangle 300x250 medium rectangle and 160x600 skyscraper.

4. Pick The right color for banner ads

Color impacts a lot on how visitors will react to your advisement. Try to think like a buyer, not an internet hustler. I know this will be most difficult for men (who may not know much about colors,) but the best way to tackle this is to get a couple of your friends and ask them which ads they would likely  click on. Though this may take a lot of your time, it is pretty more sensible to make an ad that will be set up once and for all, than running around with many articles which cannot make a single cent. . Make sure you choose the appropriate colors for the ads, as making them too different from your site's content (or just different in a bad way) is sure to make visitors regard them as banners which have nothing to do with the site itself.

5. Proper Ad Positioning.

Make sure these ads are positioned where they'll generate the highest amount of profit. Most times, that location is said to be right before the beginning of your site's actual content. If your site is filled with articles, get to try to place your ad in the middle of the article. This may be very important because there may be some relevant advertisement on the page which will no doubt make it very much profitable for you. If you read a couple of Google ads, you will see that there is a lot of what you can do to change the appearance of the ads you have.

If you page has got a long text body, you will notice that skyscrapers do better than the average text ads, simply because users get exposed to them for more time. Also, for sites with news or similar items, you might find a good position to be at the bottom of your content, because that's when people are finished reading your story and are looking for something else to do.

6. Avoid the Google’s Wrath on Fraudsters

Make sure that you respect AdSense policy regarding click fraud. The moment Google suspects that you are being fraudulent; you may get some penalty that may sound doom to all the investment that you have made in your blog/website. When making pointers, where you want to place a picture next to an ad, it is important to leave some space between the picture and the ad so that it isn’t regarded as unduly encouraging visitors to click on the link.

It is common knowledge that not many people manage to get anything online despite the many “internet opportunities.” There is always a temptation to quicken up the process by stealing from the advertisers. Don’t try to make unethical money by stealing from other internet entrepreneurs through telling people – your friends and relatives – to click on ads placed on your site. This is pure thievery. If you have done your homework well, the ads that will be placed on your site will be relevant to the people who will be reading your articles. If your articles make sense to them, they will try to look for any other information that may be found on your page and hopefully find some relevant advertisement.

Of course, there are many other ways that can be used to increase Adsense revenue to your site. These are but a few of them that would form a good starting point for many newbies. If you have any suggestions, please leave your comments for others to read.
